Following a visit to Thornton Primary School by Jean Laird (secretary of Thornton Community Council) we were recently contacted by Fiona Ramos the Principal Teacher.
She asked if representatives from the Hibs would be willing to attend the school to speak to the pupils about the importance of reading so last Friday afternoon Trisha Smith, Graeme Turnbull and John Laing were more than happy to oblige.
Trisha spoke to her class about dinosaurs (Trisha didn't reveal if Shanksy was mentioned!) and stressed the importance of reading giving examples of how some of our players had benefited from this.
Graeme reiterated the importance of reading & gaining knowledge and handed out copies of Match and World Soccer magazines.
John spoke with four P7 lads who all play for Rothes Juniors. He handed them copies of Hibs programmes which they appeared to enjoy reading. All four of them had attended Hibs home games with one of them admitting that the hot dog rolls were delicious!
