The Hibs welcome Edinburgh South to Memorial Park on Saturday for the opening game of the East of Scotland Football League season.
Edinburgh South will be playing their first ever competitive game after being formed only earlier this year and accepted into the EoSFL. They are now part of the very successful Edinburgh South (SFA Gold Quality Mark Accredited) Community Football Club that has been around since the late 1960’s.
The management team of John O’Hara and Dale Richardson have put together a predominantly experienced squad of players to tackle their first season, and are expected to put up a very strong challenge at the top end of the conference.
Their pre-season saw victories over Easthouses Lily (3-1; Jim Young, Dale O’Hara and Sean Jamieson) and Whitehill Welfare (2-1; John Ross Kerr and Taylor Aitchison) before finishing up with a defeat (0-3) to Dunbar United at New Countess Park.
Manager Craig Gilbert has also been busy during the extended break and is happy that the new signings are settling in well and have contributed to a positive pre-season. This match is the first of six in the month of October, so a good start is essential.
