As many had predicted, the make-up of the East of Scotland League First Division for season 2022/23 has gone to the wire.
On the final day of the league fixtures on Saturday, five clubs are still in the hunt to secure a top seven finish in Conference A. Rosyth, in particular, will be nervously awaiting the results as they do not play; having completed their fixtures with the 3-3 draw at Memorial Park.
The fixtures involving the teams all vying for the coveted final positions are:
Craigroyston v Coldstream
Edinburgh United v Thornton Hibs
Kennoway Star Hearts v Ormiston
A draw would be enough for the Hibs to secure a top seven place, but manager Craig Gilbert will have his team going all out for the three points with the expectation that Coldstream and Kennoway Star Hearts are favourites to win their games.
However, a league win against Edinburgh United is not something that a Craig Gilbert team has experienced so far in the four times the sides have met. The best has been a 2-2 draw in November 2015 at Paties Road, with the goals coming from Lea Schiavone and Andrew Adam.
Edinburgh United won convincingly (3-0) at Memorial Park earlier this season, so will be hoping that three points and other results go their way to secure the final place.
It is sure to be a nervy game for all involved, so we hope to see as many fans as possible making the trip over the water to cheer the boys on.
KEEP BELIEVING!
