Thornton Hibs v Kirkcaldy & Dysart

East of Scotland Football League - First Division

Match reporter: JOHN LAING

Thornton twice came from behind to take a point from this hard fought encounter at Memorial Park where no quarter was asked or given.

The visitors took the lead after only four minutes when Scott Dunn converted Darren Ormiston's low cross but just two minutes later Andy Adam's free-kick eventually found the boot of John Soutar who smacked the ball home.

The Hibs' skipper, Garry Thomson, saw a fierce drive deflected on to the roof of the net and at the other end Macaulay Jarrett got down well to smother Keanne Whitlett's cross.

Kirkcaldy regained the lead in the 25th minute through Ormiston with the only other close thing to a goal in the first-half being a cross cum shot from Murray Black that flashed just inches over.

In the 52nd minute Thomson turned and smashed the ball low towards goal and it looked like a certain equaliser but Dion Gear made a terrific save to push the ball wide that Andy McCallion was first to get to but he was fouled by Ryan Kelly with the referee immediately pointing to the spot. Thomson took it and although Gear got something on it, it wasn't enough to stop the ball from crossing the line.

In the 68th minute Ormiston was ordered-off for a second yellow card offence but the Hibs were unable to take advantage of numerical superiority and the game finished all-square.
